In this short post I just wanted to share some images I've created for an assignment I was doing as part of my degree. We were asked to come up with an idea around the senses i.e. touch, taste, sight, smell and sound. The great thing with this particular assignment was that I got to use some 35mm black and white film. I put pen to paper and started up the ideas machine! After a day I had jotted down enough notes to get me started. After using up a roll of 35mm Ilford B&W C41 film, I dropped into my local Boots pharmacy to get it developed. An hour later I had my set of images! Sifting through them I selected the ones which would make my final 2 for my submitted assignment.
My first image I've entitled 'Family' which is in the category of touch. Here I wanted to convey a sense of unity, family, trust and love between parent(s) and child. I've put the background out of focus to draw the eye to my subject, in this case the hands.
The next image was the one I had most fun with. I explored various ways that I could symbolise 'taste'. I hit on the idea of the deadly sins which pointed straight at gluttony! I actually had to ask my sister in law if I could have her recycling bag so I could use the contents to kit out my kitchen with props aka a lot of mess!
